Lake Mary, Florida, was rated by Money Magazine as the 4th best place to live in America in August 2007. Located in Seminole County, Florida, this city’s population was 14,718 according to a 2006 recording by the U.S. Census Bureau. There are several hundred lakes in Lake Mary and the city is named after one of the largest. Lake Mary grew from two small settlements called Brent’s Station and Belle Fontaine, located along the railroad that ran between Sanford and Orlando. Citrus was the city’s main industry, until the early seventies when Disney development started to push northward. Lake Mary became a semi-rural bedroom community serving Orlando. The 80s and 90s saw tremendous growth in residential, office, retail, and industrial development. By 2001 it was becoming thought of as the ‘Silicon Valley of the East’.
